Nas últimas semanas tivemos um começo de primavera com chuva, neve e temperaturas que mais me lembravam o outono. Diferente desses dias, esta semana o sol finalmente apareceu e, de certa forma, se estabeleceu. É lindo ver a mudança na paisagem e nas pessoas por aqui. Todos estão mais sorridentes, preparando os jardins para receber flores, estão fazendo churrasco no quintal, reformando os barcos, alguns já se arriscam a nadar no lago, crianças no pula-pula, mais pessoas caminhando, etc. Isso sem falar na natureza, a mudança é fenomenal!

O lago, por exemplo, já descongelou e já recebe patinhos, cisnes e gaivotas.

Já começam a surgir alguns brotinhos nos galhos secos.

E as flores surgem em meio às folhas secas ou a grama verdinha que está nascendo de novo.

A gente começa a ver os bichinhos por aqui, esquilos (a propósito perdi metade de uma manhã admirando alguns brincando em frente à minha janela), coelhos e passarinhos.

Eu sei que soa como cena de filme, mas é de verdade uma transformação muito bonita! Mas pra um lugar que é frio boa parte do ano, dias mais ensolarados, temperaturas mais agradáveis e as cores da natureza só complementam a beleza do lugar.

Agora é só aproveitar a temporada!

In past weeks we’ve had an early spring experience with rain, snow and temperatures that reminded me most of autumn. Unlike those days, at this week the sun finally came out and somehow settled down. It’s beautiful to see the change in landscape and people around here. Everyone is more smiling, preparing the gardens to receive flowers, they are having a barbecue in the backyard, renovating the boats, some are already taking the “risk” of swimming in the lake, children on trampolines, more people walking, etc. Not to mention nature, this change is phenomenal!

The lake, for example, has already thawed and already receives ducklings, swans and seagulls.

Some sprouts are already starting to appear on the dry branches.

And flowers appearing among the dry leaves or the green grass that is being born again.

We start to see the animals around here, squirrels (by the way I wasted half a morning admiring some playing in front of my window), rabbits and birds.

I know it sounds a lot like a movie scene, but it’s actually a very beautiful transformation! For a place that is cold most of the year, sunnier days, more pleasant temperatures and the colors of nature only complement the beauty of this place.

Now is just about enjoy the season!

Sustentabilidade é definitivamente um tema bastante comentado nos últimos anos, por aqui não é diferente. Talvez de forma mais prática, aqui existe um grande incentivo à coleta seletiva e um programa de “reembolso” pela reciclagem de latinhas e garrafas. Exatamente, você recebe um dinheirinho por colaborar com o meio-ambiente! Como funciona?

Basicamente você guarda num local separado o que é reciclável, do que é biodegradável e do que é lixo comum. Depois coloca esse material no seu lugar devido. Aqui no prédio, temos um local onde os moradores colocam o lixo e já tem essa separação.

E nos supermercados existe uma área onde se coloca as latinhas de alumínio e as garrafas de plástico para reciclagem, cada uma tem no rótulo qual a quantia que é devolvida, você deposita na máquina e vai somando o valor, no final você tem um ticket para usar no supermercado ou pegar o valor em espécie no caixa.

Outra coisa legal é a separação do biodegradável, tem até uma sacolinha específica que é também biodegradável.

Essa cultura já existe a alguns anos por aqui, segundo o site www.finlandia.org.br “a Finlândia já tem larga experiência na recolha e reciclagem de papéis velhos e cartão, e foi o número um mundial nessa atividade no ano de 2001, ano em que recolheu 74 % de todo o papel e cartão usado no país. Um eficiente sistema de recolha e reciclagem de garrafas de refrigerantes e de bebidas alcoólicas foi implantado na Finlândia já há várias décadas. Baseado no reembolso da tara ao consumidor, que devolve o vasilhame aos locais de compra, este sistema tem funcionado de forma excelente desde a sua implantação e já atingiu uma taxa de recuperação de 97-98%.”

Bom, fica a ideia pra implementar algo assim também em outros países.

Sustainability is definitely a subject that has been talked a lot lately, it is no different here. Here there is a great incentive for selective collection and a “reimbursement” program for the recycling of cans and bottles. Exactly, you get a little money for collaborating with the environment! How it works?

Basically, you keep in a separate place what is recyclable, what is biodegradable and what is common garbage. Then put that material in its proper place. Here in the building, we have a place where the residents put their garbage and there is already this separation.

And in supermarkets there is an area where the aluminum cans and plastic bottles for recycling are placed, each one has on the label the amount of money that is returned to you, you deposit it in the machine and in the end you will have a ticket with some money to use in the supermarket or get in cash from the cashier.

Another cool thing is the separation of biodegradable products, there is even a specific bag for that.

This culture has been around for a few years here, according to the website http://www.finlandia.org.br  “Finland already has extensive experience in collecting and recycling old paper and cardboard, and was number one worldwide in this activity in 2001, when 74% of all used paper and cardboard were collected in the country. An efficient system for the collection and recycling of soft drinks and alcoholic beverage bottles was implemented in Finland for several decades. From the bottle to the point of purchase, this system has worked excellently since its implementation and has already achieved a recovery rate of 97-98%.”

Se tem uma coisa que eu admiro por aqui é a quantidade de ciclistas. Claro que, como a cidade é meio esparramada e os lugares às vezes ficam um pouco mais distante, além dos motivos climáticos, muitos usam carro como meio de transporte. Mas, ainda assim, há um percentual significativo de pessoas que usam a bicicleta como meio de transporte. Bem, hoje eu resolvi pedalar. E o título do post de hoje “Hei minä pyöräilen!” significa basicamente “Ei eu estou pedalando!”

Na verdade, sempre admirei, mas nunca fui ciclista. E, pelo que percebi hoje, preciso estar mais em forma se eu quiser continuar pedalando, ao que parece tornar uma finlandesa envolve também melhorar o condicionamento físico para não fazer feio. Numa temperatura de 4º Celsius e um ventinho congelante no rosto, acho que até fiz bem… pedalei mais ou menos uns quarenta minutos… é um bom começo. Resolvi pedalar porque senti que, apesar de ter mil ideias na cabeça para o post de hoje, faltava um pouco de material fotográfico. Então eu coloquei a câmera na minha cestinha, (claro que eu tenho cestinha na bicicleta e um adendo à informação é que a bicicleta foi um presente do sogro, ele montou a bicicleta e me deu de presente para que eu pudesse ter como me locomover enquanto o marido está trabalhando…) e fui passear nas redondezas. Não fui mais longe porque os pulmões e os músculos não deixaram. Ah.. e começou a chover, aí fica mais difícil mesmo.

Um ponto favorável para quem quer pedalar na Finlândia é o respeito que os motoristas têm e a sinalização. Existem ciclovias por boa parte das rotas e placas sinalizando onde o ciclista pode atravessar e na faixa de pedestres e ciclistas é obrigatório que os motoristas parem e esperem que o pedestre ou ciclista cruze a via, é uma excelente forma de diminuir acidentes no trânsito e manter o respeito mútuo.

Bom, o inverno parece que finalmente está indo embora… apesar da previsão de neve pro final de semana. Mas a primavera começa a dar sinais de que está chegando por aqui, o verde cada vez mais aparente, as lojas vendendo cada vez mais flores, passarinhos cantando, a noite vindo cada vez mais tarde e a água do lago está finalmente aparecendo e tomando o lugar do gelo.

If there is one thing I admire about here is the amount of cyclists. Of course, as the city is half-sprawled and places sometimes get a little further apart, in addition to weather reasons, many use cars as a means of transportation. But still, there is lots of people who using bicycle as a means of transportation. Well, today I decided to pedal. And, in Finnish, the title of today’s post is “Hei minä pyöräilen!” basically means “Hey I’m pedaling!”

Actually, I’ve always liked it, but I’ve never been a cyclist. And from what I realized today, I need to be in a better shape if I want to continue pedaling like a Finn. At a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius and a freezing wind on my face, I think I did it well… I pedaled for about forty minutes… it’s a good start. I decided to ride because I felt that although I had a thousand ideas in my head for today’s post, I lacked some photographic material. So I put the camera in my bicycle’s front basket, (of course I would have a cute basket on my bike and by the way this bike was a gift from his father-in-law, it he gave to me as a gift his old bike so I could have a ride while my husband is working…) and I went to see around. I didn’t go any further because had no strength. Ah… and it started to rain, getting even harder then.

A good point for those who want to pedal in Finland is the respect that drivers have and the signs. There are bike lines for most of the routes and signs signaling where the cyclist can cross and in the crosswalk and cyclists it is mandatory for drivers to stop and expect the pedestrian or cyclist to cross the road, it is a great way to reduce traffic accidents and maintain mutual respect.

Well, winter looks like it’s finally going away… despite the snow forecast for the weekend. But springtime is beginning to show signs of getting here, it’s more and more green, the shops are selling more and more flowers, birds singing, the dark night coming later and the lake water is finally showing up and taking the ice place.
